Through numerous submissions from aspiring amateur photographers around the country, we have seen incredible interpretations and vibrant takes on the chosen contest themes. With up to RM10,000 worth of prizes and a 1-year photographer retainer contract on the line, it’s no surprise that many jumped at the opportunity. We are happy to announce that submissions are now closed and the judging process is underway.

Terms & Conditions
- The Volkswagen Shutter Stories (hereinafter referred to as “Competition”) is open to all Malaysians and Malaysian residents, based in Malaysia aged 18 and above.
- Participants are required to take 5 photos (1 for each category) based on the following themes.
- VW Love Show us how you're living your best life and transforming mundane everyday moments into magical ones. We want to see perfect moments captured by your lens.
- VW Adventure Conquer the road - and beyond! We want to see your adventures. Perhaps you have a favourite scenic spot on your road trips? Show us!
- VW Motion Blink and we might just miss it. Show us your best photo that captures speed and motion.
- VW People Whether they’re drivers, passengers or even pets, show us how journeys come to life with your favourite companions.
- VW Colours & Life Paint a picture for us about what ignites your passion. We want to see how you view the world and the rich hues in it. Let your imagination and zest for colours run wild!
- Participants are encouraged to interpret each theme according to their own creativity, but they must ensure that at least 2 photos out of the 5 submitted feature a Volkswagen model. Participants may feature any Volkswagen model for the purposes of this Competition. No other car brands should be featured in the five photographs.
- This Competition is only open to aspiring, amateur photographers and not professional photographers. We define a professional photographer as someone who earns income from photography, whether full-time or part-time. Submissions by professional photographers will be immediately disqualified.
- Images submitted to the Competition must be taken with a camera. Images generated, manipulated or enhanced by Artificial Intelligence will not be considered and will result in automatic disqualification.
- Participants are only allowed to use Adobe Lightroom or similar software to edit and enhance the photos.
- Participants will be disqualified if fake added objects, non-original created images or any other similar activities are found in the submitted images.
- Entries to this Competition must not have been selected as a winner in other similar competitions prior to the opening date of 3 Dec 2024.
- The contest will officially close at 11:59 PM (Malaysia Time) on 14 February 2025. Any submissions received after this deadline will be disqualified and will not be considered for participation.
- Participants are required to complete the step(s) below to enter the Competition:
- Provide 5 photos based on the 5 Competition themes above.
- Fill up the registration form here and submit the original 5 photos via the form. Important: The photograph must have the consent of a third party if persons are featured in the photo. No inappropriate content is allowed.
- The final selection of winners will be decided upon by the Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia team and Competition judges. The finalists will be revealed at a winner announcement event, followed by an announcement on our official social media pages. No further correspondence will be entertained. We cannot offer feedback on submissions.
- A shortlist of candidates will be selected from the pool of entries to the Competition; they will go on to compete in the “People’s Choice Awards” category after the official finalists have been announced.
- “People’s Choice Awards” candidates will undergo public voting, and the “People’s Choice” winner will be selected based on these votes.
- Employees, competition partners and agencies of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia are not allowed to participate.
- No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered and the prizes are not transferable.
- Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia, its agencies, affiliates, sponsors and representatives are not responsible for any defective prizes or misuse of any prize, or for any claims, liability, loss or damage arising out of or in connection with any contest promoted by Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia.
- Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia may incorporate information from entrants in databases for use for the purpose of its business according to Volkswagen Data Protection | Volkswagen Malaysia.
- The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these terms and conditions without notice.
- Entry into the Competition will be deemed as an acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- Winners stand a chance of winning the following prizes:

- Grand Prize:
- By participating in this competition, the Grand Prize winner agrees to become the Volkswagen photographer for 1-year.
- Should the winner not accept the winning terms, it cannot be transferred or exchanged into cash.
