KUALA LUMPUR 12 August 2026 – Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today officially introduced the all-new Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, the top-of-the-range variant of its newest premium SUV, bringing together exhilarating performance, sophisticated comfort and advanced technology in a versatile seven-seat package.

As the pinnacle of the range, the all-new R-Line combines Volkswagen’s hallmark refinement with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, stronger performance, sportier design cues and a more commanding road presence. "The R-Line is designed for drivers and families whose needs continue to evolve but still want a vehicle that brings excitement to every journey. The Tayron family also includes the Elegance variant, which offers a more comfort focused expression of Volkswagen’s latest SUV iteration, pairing a 1.5 litre eTSI mild-hybrid engine with refined practicality and advanced technology. Both variants are locally assembled at the Volkswagen Plant in Pekan.

Powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine, the R-Line produces 265PS and 400Nm of torque, delivering strong acceleration and effortless cruising performance. The intelligent 4MOTION all-wheel drive system continuously distributes drive power where it is needed most, providing enhanced traction, stability and driving confidence across varying road and weather conditions. Working seamlessly alongside the powertrain is Volkswagen’s seven-speed DSG transmission and Dynamic Chassis Control Pro (DCC Pro), featuring electronically controlled two-valve dampers that continuously adapt to changing road conditions and driving styles. At the front, the commanding stance is accentuated by IQ.Light HD Matrix headlights featuring glare-free high beam technology, while the illuminated Volkswagen emblem creates a distinctive lighting signature both day and night. Exclusive R-Line styling elements on the front bumper, rear bumper and side profile further reinforce the SUV’s sporty appearance, while the illuminated Volkswagen logo at both the front and rear completes its unmistakable Volkswagen identity. At the rear, striking 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals complement the sculpted bodywork, while precise body lines and tight panel gaps emphasise the R-Line’s craftsmanship.

The Varenna leather ergoActive Plus front seats feature 12-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation (cooling) and a 10-air-cushion pneumatic massage function, helping occupants stay comfortable on longer drives while the ventilated seats provide added cooling comfort on hot days.

The cabin is further enhanced by the Harman Kardon sound system, comprising 10 + 1 speakers, a dedicated subwoofer, 700-watt output and a 16-channel digital amplifier, delivering an immersive listening experience.

The R-Line’s flexible seven-seat layout adapts easily to changing passenger and cargo needs, with 40:20:40 split-folding second-row seats, 50:50 split- folding third-row seats and up to 1,905 litres of luggage capacity when both rows are folded. At the heart of the R-Line is Volkswagen’s latest-generation digital ecosystem designed to make every journey more connected, intuitive and engaging. A 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system powered by Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 software provides seamless access to navigation, entertainment and vehicle functions, while Wireless App-Connect supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro presents fully configurable driving information directly within the driver's line of sight, complemented by a head-up display that projects key information including speed, navigation guidance and driver assistance alerts onto the windshield. Drivers also benefit from Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant, while the new Centre Console Multi-Function Control provides intuitive access to drive modes, ambient lighting and audio controls through a tactile rotary controller.
