Engine & Gearbox How your Volkswagen drives more quietly & reliably.

Volkswagen Genuine Timing Belts.

Strong, flexible and developed for your engine.
Your benefits

Perfectly matched.

To Volkswagen's engine, tensioner and idler pulleys. For fewer noises and smoother running performance.

Reliable transmission of power.

Resilient & inherently robust.

Thanks to glass and synthetic fibres and an abrasion-resistant coating. Even in extreme conditions.

Product information

A timing belt made of a solid material, which reliably transfers power for longer - in extreme heat and cold -, but which is flexible enough to adapt and to keep tension constant. That is what your engine would wish for from a timing belt. That is why we have designed Volkswagen Genuine Timing Belts exactly like this - matched to your Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Genuine Spark Plugs.

Reliably ready to spark.

Your benefits

Especially developed for your Volkswagen's engine.

Last longer.

Up to 90.000 km, depending on model.

For more comfort and less consumption.

Thanks to very smooth running performance and exact positioning of the ignition spark in the combustion chamber.

Product information

Whenever you depress your accelerator pedal - your Volkswagen engine can react precisely and develop its full power with Volkswagen Genuine Spark Plugs. Reason: They have been especially developed for your engine and matched exactly to its requirements. They spark reliably, ensure optimum combustion and do not overheat. For a quiet engine operation and less consumption - up to 90.000 km.

How long do spark plugs last?

Depending on type and quality, spark plugs last between 20,000 and 60,000 miles (between 30,000 and 90,000 km). Adhere to your inspection intervals. Then you will know at an early stage when your spark plugs are no longer fit. That will prevent consequential costs.

How do spark plugs last longer?

You can extend the life of your spark plugs by having the correct oil level and through your driving style: If the oil level is too high, they may oil up; if you drive many short distances, they may become sooty. Reason: The engine does not reach the temperature that they need in order to clean themselves.

Why is it necessary to change spark plugs?

Spark plugs are exposed to high pressure, shocks and temperatures of up to 3,000°C. At the same time, even a few ignition failures damage the catalytic converter.

Change them yourself?

Even if changing the spark plugs seems quite straightforward, the smallest error may cause major engine damage. Why is that? Every engine requires a different spark plug: The wrong one damages the engine in the same way as the wrong tool or the wrong tightening torque. Don't take the risk; it is best to go to your Volkswagen Service Centre.

Fireworks for your engine. To enable your engine to run quietly, your spark plugs organise a veritable fireworks display with thousands of sparks – matched to the precise millisecond.

66 sparks.

On average, a spark plug supplies 66 sparks a second.

Up to 3,000°C.

Spark plugs need to withstand up to 3,000°C.

Up to 40 bar.

They are exposed to a pressure of between 0.9 and 40 bar.

Control lights.

Engine coolant system faulty.

Don't drive on!
Call on expert assistance.

Coolant level too low, temperature too high or coolant system faulty.

Is illuminated:
Coolant level too low, temperature too high or coolant system faulty.

Coolant system faulty.

Temperature indicator in the warning range?
Stop, switch off the engine and let it cool down. Only then, continue driving. Check coolant level.

Temperature indicator in the normal range?
Check the coolant level when the engine has cooled down and top coolant up, if necessary. Is the level OK? Caution: fault! Don't continue driving; contact your service partner.

Coolant temperature for the natural gas or autogas engine too low.

Avoid high engine rpms and heavy engine strain.
