Engine & Gearbox How your Volkswagen drives more quietly & reliably.

Engine oil.

Nothing makes your Volkswagen happier than the right engine oil. Only the right engine oil provides your Volkswagen with the optimal protection.

Oil Service.

A quick stop for a long engine life.

Extend your engine's service life - with the Volkswagen Oil Service. We change your used oil for fresh Volkswagen Genuine Engine Oil, which provides optimal protection for your engine and enables an incredible high performance. To ensure that the oil stays cleaner for longer, we will also replace the oil filter and seals at the same time - with Volkswagen Genuine Parts®, of course.

Volkswagen Genuine Fuel Additives.

What is it for?

Fuel additives are compounds formulated to enhance the efficiency and quality of fuels used in motor vehicles, increasing fuel's octane rating or act as corrosion inhibitors or lubricant. They allow the use of higher compression ratios for greater efficiency and power. Fuel additives can help to avoid problems such as loss of performance (engine running irregularly), increased exhaust emissions and high fuel consumptions.

The VW Fuel Additive helps clean your injectors by protecting against corrosion and pre-mature wearing, ensuring the component of your vehicle's fuel system is constantly performing at an optimum level.

Volkswagen G13 Genuine Coolant Additive.

Maximum protection with maximum performance.

If you accelerate, things start getting very hot in your engine - actually, too hot for many materials. Volkswagen G13 Genuine Coolant Additive cools reliably even under heavy strain. At the same time, the innovative formulation protects against limescale, corrosion, acids and frost up to -40°C.

Environmentally responsible.

Thanks to up to 20% glycerin based on renewable and recycled raw materials. An initial filling of all Volkswagen alone saves around 35,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Protects the engine. Is gentle on materials.

Matched to all materials of the cooling system. Protects the engine against extreme temperatures, corrosion, overacidification and limescale.

Volkswagen Genuine Timing Belts.

Strong, flexible and developed for your engine.
Your benefits

Perfectly matched.

To Volkswagen's engine, tensioner and idler pulleys. For fewer noises and smoother running performance.

Reliable transmission of power.

Resilient & inherently robust.

Thanks to glass and synthetic fibres and an abrasion-resistant coating. Even in extreme conditions.

Product information

A timing belt made of a solid material, which reliably transfers power for longer - in extreme heat and cold -, but which is flexible enough to adapt and to keep tension constant. That is what your engine would wish for from a timing belt. That is why we have designed Volkswagen Genuine Timing Belts exactly like this - matched to your Volkswagen.

What is the function of a toothed belt?

A toothed belt transfers power from the crankshaft to the camshaft. This causes the engine's valves to open and close. The fuel/air mixture enters the combustion chamber, combusts and drives the pistons. The toothed belt also often controls the water pump.

Why have it inspected regularly & changed in good time?

An old or heavily worn toothed belt may tear and cause engine damage. Reason: The engine's valve control loses its rhythm, the piston hits the valve like a bullet - often at 15 m/s. The entire cylinder head usually needs to be replaced.

When is it time for a toothed belt change?

A toothed belt lasts up to 220,000 miles (360,000 km), depending on model, engine and driving style. Nevertheless, have it checked every now and then - by, say, your Volkswagen Partner within your service intervals. Especially if you drive a lot of short distances, your Volkswagen is frequently left running while stationary (e.g. taxi) or if you have already driven more than 150,000 miles (240,000 km). By the way: We check the toothed belt of every used car prior to the sale in order to avoid engine damages.

Volkswagen Genuine Spark Plugs.

Reliably ready to spark.

Your benefits

Especially developed for your Volkswagen's engine.

Last longer.

Up to 90.000 km, depending on model.

For more comfort and less consumption.

Thanks to very smooth running performance and exact positioning of the ignition spark in the combustion chamber.

Product information

Whenever you depress your accelerator pedal - your Volkswagen engine can react precisely and develop its full power with Volkswagen Genuine Spark Plugs. Reason: They have been especially developed for your engine and matched exactly to its requirements. They spark reliably, ensure optimum combustion and do not overheat. For a quiet engine operation and less consumption - up to 90.000 km.

How long do spark plugs last?

Depending on type and quality, spark plugs last between 20,000 and 60,000 miles (between 30,000 and 90,000 km). Adhere to your inspection intervals. Then you will know at an early stage when your spark plugs are no longer fit. That will prevent consequential costs.

How do spark plugs last longer?

You can extend the life of your spark plugs by having the correct oil level and through your driving style: If the oil level is too high, they may oil up; if you drive many short distances, they may become sooty. Reason: The engine does not reach the temperature that they need in order to clean themselves.

Why is it necessary to change spark plugs?

Spark plugs are exposed to high pressure, shocks and temperatures of up to 3,000°C. At the same time, even a few ignition failures damage the catalytic converter.

Change them yourself?

Even if changing the spark plugs seems quite straightforward, the smallest error may cause major engine damage. Why is that? Every engine requires a different spark plug: The wrong one damages the engine in the same way as the wrong tool or the wrong tightening torque. Don't take the risk; it is best to go to your Volkswagen Service Centre.

Fireworks for your engine. To enable your engine to run quietly, your spark plugs organise a veritable fireworks display with thousands of sparks – matched to the precise millisecond.

66 sparks.

On average, a spark plug supplies 66 sparks a second.

Up to 3,000°C.

Spark plugs need to withstand up to 3,000°C.

Up to 40 bar.

They are exposed to a pressure of between 0.9 and 40 bar.
